Editorial Process

TX Headlines exists to help Texans and curious visitors find the places, experiences, and stories that make this state worth exploring. Every guide we publish is held to a standard we’re genuinely proud of — accurate, locally grounded, and written by people who actually know what they’re talking about.

Our Commitment to Readers

Every piece of content on TX Headlines goes through multiple rounds of editorial review before it reaches you. Our team checks for factual accuracy, local authenticity, and overall quality at every stage. We don’t cut corners on that process.

The TX Headlines Standard

Simple rule: if we wouldn’t recommend it to a close friend or family member planning a Texas trip, we don’t publish it. Every guide, list, and recommendation on this site has to clear that bar first.

Editorial Independence & Content Integrity

Our readers come first — always. No advertiser, affiliate partner, or outside relationship influences what we cover or how we cover it.

Travel writing is by nature opinionated, and we think that’s a strength. We give our writers the freedom to share their honest voice and genuine perspective, while holding a firm line on factual accuracy. We draw a clear distinction between fact and opinion, and we treat them accordingly.

Who Writes for TX Headlines

TX Headlines only works with writers who bring real, firsthand knowledge to their assignments. We don’t publish Texas content written by people with no meaningful connection to the subject. Every contributor falls into one of two categories:

Local Writers: Writers who live in, grew up in, or spend a significant part of their year in the specific Texas area they cover. Most of our local contributors focus on a single city or region they know inside and out. Some cover more than one part of the state where their experience genuinely spans multiple areas.

Expert Writers: Experienced US-based travel writers who may not be Texas residents but bring deep research expertise and a proven track record producing high-quality travel content. These writers combine strong investigative skills with thorough sourcing to deliver guides that meet our editorial standard. They are transparent about their approach and do not present secondhand research as personal experience.

In both cases, our writers are upfront with readers about their relationship to the places and topics they cover.

Fact-Checking & Accuracy

We take accuracy seriously. Every article is reviewed for factual claims, which we verify against primary and reliable third-party sources — official government and municipal websites, the venue or business’s own listings and Google profile, reputable independent media, and established third-party databases.

We aim for the highest standard of accuracy on every publish. When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and without hesitation.

Corrections

Spotted an error? We want to know about it. Email our editorial team at [email protected] with the URL of the page in question, the specific claim you’re disputing, and any supporting sources you can provide.

One distinction worth noting: our articles contain both factual assertions and editorial opinions. We welcome factual corrections and take them seriously. Editorial opinions, however, remain at the discretion of the individual writer.

Keeping Content Current

Texas moves fast. Restaurants close, trails change, and hidden gems don’t stay hidden for long. We treat content updates as an ongoing editorial responsibility, not an afterthought.

Our writers are actively encouraged to revisit and refresh older guides, and our editorial team keeps a close eye on published content across the site. Our most widely read guides are reviewed as frequently as every month. The full content library goes through a comprehensive accuracy and relevance audit at least twice a year.

Product & Experience Evaluation

TX Headlines occasionally publishes articles that evaluate or rank products — travel gear, outdoor equipment, local experiences, and similar items relevant to our audience.

Every product we review goes through a thorough hands-on assessment. We only cover brands with a solid track record, and we always study real user feedback before committing to a review. We do not write about products our team hasn’t personally used and evaluated.

We make our review methodology clear within the article itself, including original photos and documentation of our testing process where possible.

In most cases, products are purchased directly using TX Headlines’ own resources, or sourced from a writer’s personal collection. On occasions where a brand provides a complimentary sample for review purposes, we disclose this clearly and prominently at the top of the article. No exceptions.

Feedback

We’re always working to better serve our readers across Texas. If you have thoughts on our editorial approach, a specific article, or anything else on the site, we’d love to hear from you. Visit our Contact Page or email us directly at [email protected].
