Bubbly letters spelling out ‘Sweet Repeat’ on the window give the small shop a ’70s vibe. Up above the downtown building’s awning, the store’s sign has “Resale” in Old Western letters.

That mix of laid-back charm and Texan pride is exactly what the shop is like.
You’ll pick up on laid-back, thrifting vibes, along with items that just say, “Texan. Proud of it.”
Early Beginnings
It’s no surprise there’s a Texan vibe to Sweet Repeat Resale.
In downtown Bryan, the shop is right in Texas A&M University’s backyard. It’s part of Aggieland, and Aggies have a cowboy style that’s undeniable.
That same pride in being a Texan (and an Aggie) is part of the store’s story, too. And yours, as a thrifter. You take on the stories of the items or clothes you buy here.
Sweet Repeat Resale was started by an Aggie who owned and operated it for 7 years. At the time, it was a woman-owned small business in the downtown Bryan district.
Michael “Mike” Cordova took it over a few years ago.

What many people don’t realize is that the sales floor is only a fraction of what the store actually has.
But there’s even more stored inventory they keep for restocking throughout the year.
So, if you don’t find what you’re looking for one day, come back another time or during another season of the year. You’ll come across items that weren’t there the last time you visited.
As is the case with many of the buildings in downtown Bryan, this shop doesn’t have the most modern look and feel. It’s old, but that’s part of its charm.
It’s not trying to be more than it is. It’s just right for a shopping day out with friends.
With its age comes a few things to note.
The outside of the shop is mostly faded white brick with an equally faded green awning. You’d walk right past it if you didn’t know what you were looking for.
In the same building, in a row, are several other shops popular in downtown Bryan. It sits along a sidewalk lined with shops, perfect for daytime browsing from store to store.

There’s sometimes an easel-style sign out front displaying deals, discounts, hours, or featured items.
On the opposite side of the front door is a movable rack of clothes they’re selling. That’s another way to find the shop if you’re out shopping with friends in downtown Bryan.
You can sift through what clothes are out there before heading inside to shop some more. The rack is typically stuffed with shirts in various sizes, colors, and patterns, so don’t forget to spend some time outside checking if there’s anything you’d like or that you could get as a gift for a friend or family member.
The parking spots are slanted at an angle from the store’s main entrance. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a parking space right in front of Sweet Repeat Resale.
But more often than not, these parking spaces are full by the time you get the itch to go shopping.
Downtown Bryan is popular during the day, as many businesses operate in between all these shops and restaurants, and also at night, when the college students, Ol’ Ags, couples, and high school kids show up on the scene to shop, hang out, and eat.

If you can’t find a parking spot near the thrift store, there’s parking along a lot of the side roads in downtown Bryan.
It’s a longer walk, but you won’t mind because there’s so much to see in the downtown area. You’re never bored.
And you’ll most likely walk past a restaurant that smells amazing or another thrift store you’ll have to try after you’ve explored this one.
On especially busy days, parade days, or holidays, you won’t find any open parking spaces along the side roads.
One parking trick: check the lot next to Papa Perez, the old cotton mill sitting between the two main downtown streets.
Many people forget it’s there and don’t go into the parking lot to find any open spaces.
When you go inside Sweet Repeat Resale, don’t expect a huge sales floor. It’s like the other little shops in downtown Bryan. Small, packed with items, and not terribly flashy.

The floor is scratched, and its purple paint is flaking in some sections. The ceiling is tiled with tiny, intricate patterns, like you’d find in old houses.
There’s only one ceiling fan, so remember to bring that little, handheld fan you have, if you’re going on a hot Texas summer day.
The store is shaped like one, long rectangular box, so there’s not a lot of places for the Texas heat to go. Be prepared for close quarters with other shoppers.
The thrift store has a ton of items, but because of that, there isn’t as much space for thrifters.
Another thing people may not know about Sweet Repeat Resale is that they also buy used goods. If you have any gently used clothing, furniture, cups, dolls, and so on, it’s worth asking if they’d take it and for how much.
Pass it on to someone else who’ll cherish it like you did or get a surge of joy discovering it one day in Sweet Repeat (like you did when you first bought it or had it gifted to you).
The thrift store is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Don’t drop by on Sundays or Mondays because they’ll be closed.

It’d be a good place to stop by on your lunch break on a weekday, with coworkers or your group of friends. Or since they’re open an hour after 5 p.m., it’d be a quick drop-by and a shopping adventure before dinner starts.
Saturdays are your best bet if the workweek is generally too busy for you to fit in a shopping spree. Their hours, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, make for a great shopping day, with a late-morning opening to a mid-evening close.
What’s their motto as a thrift store? That’d be this: “If it feels good, wear it. Resale therapy is found at Sweet Repeat.”
If department stores aren’t your thing, and you’re hoping for a relaxing afternoon shopping, this is your new favorite place.
The “therapy” is in finding something you love or just the fun of anticipating what’ll be around the corner or the next aisle over.

If it feels good, wear it. They’re not pushing you like a sales person at an upscale clothing store. There’s nothing pushy about this thrift store, in fact. It’s meant to be a refuge from the day’s busy schedules and endless meetings.
You’re yourself at Sweet Repeat. No one’s asking you to be anyone else.
One thing I really like about this thrift store is its origin story tied to Aggieland. I love how many Aggies are entrepreneurs, starting their own small businesses in Aggieland … whether that’s flavored popcorn, the best popsicles ever, a small restaurant, or a thrift store like Sweet Repeat.
So what exactly does Sweet Repeat specialize in? Sweet Repeat has vintage clothes, including letterman jackets, ’90s fashion, and other rare finds. They also have fashion accessories, DVDs, and knickknacks.
Mike lives by that same motto, always ready to help a shopper put together the perfect outfit.
It’s a small shop, so there’s only one or two people working there.

You’ll get to chat or get advice about different pieces or items in the store. Or you can slip in and out as you shop, browsing without too much talking.
It’s a buy, sell, and trade store, so anyone can bring in their own thrifted goods either for cash or for other items of similar value in Sweet Repeat.
That’s a fun way to keep the thrifting going, or to get that one thing you’ve been contemplating getting at Sweet Repeat.
Downtown Bryan even has Sweet Repeat on their Aggieland Art Trail, which is a free digital passport you can download to earn points and win prizes.
Tips from Thrifters
Halloween is a cool time to go by and check this thrift store out.
Mike made a window shop display of Beetlejuice, which won the Bryan Halloween window display contest last year. Inside, they had skateboards, masks, vintage clothes, a huge scarecrow, and dolls.

You really have to look deep. Then, go deeper.
No matter if you’re looking on the wall, on the floor, or in the myriad of piles, shelves, or racks in front of you, there’s always more to look at.
There’s no public restroom, so don’t go in hoping to find one.

Prices at the store aren’t too bad either. They’re reasonable for the items they have and the condition of the items, too.
