This Secret Water Park Has Endless Summer Fun for the Whole Family
I have a confession to make: I am absolutely terrible at planning vacations around the weather.
The number of times I have packed my family into the car for a day at an outdoor water park only to have thunderstorms roll in is embarrassing.
If you can relate, then allow me to suggest an indoor water park in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that keeps it a balmy 85 degrees year-round, rain or shine.
A Hidden Tropical Paradise in Grand Prairie

From the outside, Epic Waters looks like a sleek modern recreation center, the kind of building you might drive past without a second glance.
But step inside, and you are immediately transported somewhere else entirely. The 80,000-square-foot facility sits within the EpicCentral entertainment district in Grand Prairie.
What makes this place truly remarkable is what happens overhead.
The entire waterpark sits beneath the largest single retractable roof in North America, a stunning curved structure spanning 160 feet wide and 384 feet long.

On beautiful Texas days, those 36 automated roof panels slide open at the touch of a button, flooding the space with fresh air and sunshine.
When the weather turns, they close seamlessly, keeping that perfect 85-degree temperature locked in no matter what is happening outside.
World-Class Slides and Attractions

Epic Waters did not hold back when designing rides that make thrill-seekers’ hearts race.
The park’s slide tower rises 83 feet into the air, offering access to eleven waterslides, including three that were firsts for the industry when they debuted.
The Yellowjacket Drop combines the Boomerango and Constrictor into one wild ride where you snake through enclosed twists before dropping onto an open wall that sends you toward a moment of zero gravity.

The Aquanaut is North America’s first two-person Aquasphere inner tube ride, while the E-Racers puts four riders head-to-head on colorful mat slides.

The real crown jewel is the signature drop slide experience. You step into an enclosed capsule at the top of the tower, the clear door closes, and after a three-second countdown, the floor drops out beneath you.
You plunge into a near-vertical free fall before shooting through a translucent 360-degree loop.
The Prairie Plunge offers a straight 50-foot enclosed drop, while the Texas Twist sends you spiraling through a tube that exits the building, curves around the outside, and splatters down inside.
Something for Everyone in the Family

What I love most about Epic Waters is that it genuinely delivers on the promise of being a place where every family member can have a great time.
The Rio Grand lazy river stretches 659 feet through the park, making it the longest indoor lazy river in Texas.

Every half hour, wave generators kick on for ten minutes, sending three-foot swells pulsing through the river and transforming it from a peaceful float into an action river.
For the youngest adventurers, Rascal’s Round-Up is a 3,000-square-foot aquatic playground featuring geysers, squirters, pint-sized slides, and a 300-gallon tipping bucket that announces its impending dump with a loud bell.

Parents can wade right in to splash with their kids or watch from adjacent seating areas.

The FlowRider surf simulator draws crowds wanting to try boogie boarding or surfing in a controlled wave environment, with trained staff on hand to give tips.
Beyond the Water

One of the things that surprised me about Epic Waters is how much there is to do when you need a break from the slides.
The park houses a 4,000-square-foot arcade with more than 50 games and a prize counter where kids can redeem their tickets.
Digital lockers are available for securing belongings, and an on-site retail shop stocks anything you might have forgotten.
When hunger strikes, the Hungry Wave Café serves up burgers, pizza, chicken baskets, and kid-friendly classics.
Longboards is a full-service bar with beer, wine, and signature cocktails for parents who want to unwind.

Private cabanas offer tableside food and beverage service, providing perfect home bases for families to rest and regroup.
A Tropical Texas Escape

Epic Waters operates year-round, which is one of its greatest advantages over outdoor water parks that shut down when temperatures drop.
The park is typically open seven days a week during peak seasons with modified schedules during slower periods, so checking the online calendar before you go is always smart.
General admission tickets are available online at a discount compared to gate prices, and Grand Prairie residents receive special pricing with proof of residency.
For more information about visiting Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark, check their official website or social media pages for current hours, ticket prices, and special events.
Use the map to plan your route to Grand Prairie’s EpicCentral district—you will also find nearby hotels, restaurants, and attractions like Lone Star Park and Traders Village to extend your adventure.
