Battle Across 13 Different Arenas At This Secret Paintball Park

Battle Across 13 Different Arenas At This Secret Paintball Park

Between Houston’s sprawl and Fort Bend County farmland, paintballs fly through woods, over dirt mounds, and past bunkers where players duck and strategize.

Tanks Paintball Park has been running these battlefields for more than three decades, making it one of the Houston area’s oldest and most established paintball facilities.

Spread across 20 acres in Richmond, the park feels rural yet sits within easy reach of Sugar Land, Katy, and Houston.

Family‑owned since opening 33 years ago, it has grown from a classic paintball park into a multi‑activity destination with airsoft, Gelly Ball, and even axe throwing.

Tanks Paintball Park runs 13 distinct play areas, or “maps,” each with its own terrain, obstacles, and tactical style.

The variety keeps regulars engaged and gives newcomers multiple experiences in a single visit.

Popular options include the dirt mounds field, where packed‑earth hills create natural cover, and wooded trails dotted with bunkers for players who prefer stealth over speed.

Other maps feature open layouts with artificial obstacles, structures to attack and defend, and designs tailored to game modes like conquest and capture the flag.

One TripAdvisor reviewer called Tanks “the best field in the state of Texas,” praising the prison and speedsoft areas for their intensity.

Conquest games can stretch past an hour, turning paintball into an endurance challenge as much as a shooting competition—proof of how diverse and demanding the park’s maps can be.

Low Impact Paintball for Everyone

Several years ago, Tanks Paintball Park made a major shift: all play is now low‑impact paintball. This isn’t a kids‑only option—it’s the standard.

Smaller paintballs, lighter gear, and slower firing speeds keep the strategy and adrenaline intact while eliminating most of the painful welts and bruises that once discouraged newcomers.

Players as young as seven can join in, while Gelly Ball drops the minimum age to five.

The change opened the sport to families, mixed‑age groups, and anyone wanting the tactical thrill without the week‑long aftermath.

Strict safety protocols remain in place—barrel bags off the field, mandatory orientations, and referees monitoring every game—but the lower impact makes the experience more accessible and inviting.
