This Secret Water Park in Texas Is Open Until Midnight on Saturdays

Most water parks operate on daylight schedules—gates open mid-morning, slides shut down by dinner, and families head home before sunset.

Volente Beach Resort and Waterpark plays by different rules.

This boutique lakefront attraction on the shores of Lake Travis keeps Beachside Billy’s restaurant and bar open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays during summer, letting visitors extend their day into a proper Texas evening.

The waterpark slides close earlier, but you can swim through sunset, watch the sky turn orange over Hill Country ridgelines, and stick around for live music while the temperature finally drops to something bearable.

Where Volente Beach Is Located

Volente Beach occupies over four acres of Lake Travis waterfront in the small community of Volente, tucked into the Hill Country west of Austin.

The address officially falls in Leander, but the setting feels completely removed from suburban sprawl.

You’re on the lake, surrounded by limestone cliffs, oak trees, and the kind of quiet that comes from being just far enough from the city.

The drive from downtown Austin takes roughly 30 to 40 minutes via FM 620 and FM 2769, depending on traffic.

Volente Beach bills itself as Austin’s only boutique waterpark, and the description fits. This isn’t Schlitterbahn or Typhoon Texas.

There are no wave pools, lazy rivers, or sprawling complexes requiring maps to navigate.

Instead, you get four water slides, two pools, a splash zone for little kids, and a private beach with direct access to Lake Travis—all compact enough that parents can keep an eye on everyone from a single lounge chair.

The four slides each offer something different.

The Texas Twister is the headliner—a high-speed thrill ride that requires riders to be at least 48 inches tall and good swimmers.

The Flash Flood, Roadrunner, and Sidewinder round out the lineup, with the Sidewinder featuring double tubes for riding with a partner.

Height requirements for most slides start at 42 inches. Lifeguards staff the top and bottom of each slide, plus the main pool areas.

The Pirate Ship Splash Zone caters to toddlers and young children with water features sized appropriately for the smallest visitors.

Gator’s Crossing provides a floating obstacle course-style attraction for slightly older kids.

The main pool and separate kiddie pool use water pumped from Lake Travis—clear, emerald-colored lake water rather than the chlorinated blue you’d find at a typical water park.

The late hours transform Volente Beach from a daytime attraction into something closer to a night out.

As summer afternoons turn brutal under the Texas sun, swimming through sunset and into the evening makes the whole experience more comfortable.

The temperature drops. The crowds thin. The light over Lake Travis shifts from harsh glare to golden hour to full-on spectacular.

The waterpark operates seasonally, typically opening in late April or early May and running through the fall.

During the peak summer season (late May through early August), expect daily hours Tuesday through Sunday.

Ticket prices fluctuate based on timing—afternoon entry after 3 p.m. typically costs less than full-day admission.

All tickets include access to the four water slides, main pool deck, Pirate Ship Splash Zone, beach, and protected swim area. Season passes are available for repeat visitors.

Day parking runs $10 in the upper lot—follow the red arrows and don’t park in front of the restaurant unless you want your car towed.

For overnight stays, eight renovated bungalows plus a four-bedroom Lake House offer accommodations within walking distance of the waterpark.
