Texas vs. Iowa State still has potential significance in the Big 12

Back in August, Texas and Iowa State were considered as the biggest challengers to Oklahoma in the Big 12. Media folks even mentioned the Texas-Iowa State meeting to be the game in the Big 12’s regular season.

Now the game has arrived and No. 13 Baylor is hosting No. 10 Oklahoma. The conference’s showcase is organized 800 miles south Saturday.

Texas-Iowa State is not the kind everybody predicted, but they still carries potential chances. A win over Iowa State is a must for No. 19 Texas (6-3, 4-2 Big 12) to catch the chance of returning to the Big 12 Championship Game at AT&T Stadium.

Duvernay, who leads Texas with 78 receptions for 7 touchdowns and 910 yards, said “Yeah, I feel it would be. That’s what you have worked for all year, all offseason to get to that point. Anything short of that is kind of a failure.”. There are some scenarios that could happen, however, the most direct path for Texas to Arlington would be their victory against Iowa State, Texas Tech and Baylor, as well as expect Baylor to be defeated by Oklahoma this Saturday.

Quarterback Sam Ehlinger said, “Obviously, we understand what’s at stake. It’s the fourth quarter of our season.”

Coach Tom Herman believed that the boost to confidence was significant and noted that he’d seen doubt creeping into his team. “Anytime you go through the weeks that we went through, you start to wonder that, are we as good as we think we are? Could we do the things that we had hoped to do as well as set out to do all the season?”, said he.

Same like Texas, Iowa State even may face more disappointment. Three of their four losses have come by a combined 4 points to Iowa, Baylor and Oklahoma – all ranked teams. Iowa State keeps a win away from bowl eligibility.

The Cyclones are also dangerous which being led by sophomore quarterback Brock Purdy. The Des Moines Register stated that Iowa State seems to be favored over Texas by a healthy seven points and for the first time ever in series history.

“I don’t care if they are desperate or how they are feeling, we just want to go in there and win.”, said Texas defensive lineman Keondre Coburn.
