Dorsey’s account was hacked since August, with hacker’s sending out erratic and offensive tweets, then Twitter deleted them a few minutes later. A company spokeswoman said that as soon as they were made aware of the issue, the compromised account was locked and they are currently investigating the situation. Still, representatives for Carey were not immediately available to comment.
The tweet storm went on for approximately 30 minutes, then the content was quickly deleted. With more than 21 million followers, Carey is one of the top 100 most followed Twitter accounts on the platform.
Besides derogatory words, the tweets requested fans of the page to follow other users, containing pornographic images and even personally attacked rapper Eminem, whom Carey dated in 2001 and who has a feud with Nick Cannon – Carey’s ex-husband.
