In spite of recent struggles, the Cowboys believe their confidence level remains high. They have lost 7 of their last 10 games, which include the last three.
On Wednesday, coach Jason Garrett said he just got back to work, and this league was about adversity. “If you ever played or coached in this league, the guy across from you is damn good, so you’re going to have success and you’re going to have adversity.”
In fact, the Cowboys have not handled adversity well. They must find a way to solve their problems heading into the game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. As Dallas is tied with Philadelphia for first place in the NFC East, the teams will meet in two weeks. Meanwhile, the Rams are also fighting for a playoff berth. They are a game behind the Vikings for the sixth and final playoff spot in the NFC.
Defensive tackle Michael Bennett said that every game was big because it’ was the next game. “Focusing on the task and taking it one game and one snap at a time, you can’t worry about the outside noise and what the media is saying and what the fans are saying. We just have to play at a high level and play for each other.”
The Cowboys (6-7) have endured a pair of losing streaks after a 3-0 start. “An intensified focus shouldn’t be needed given how the team has played”, said running back Ezekiel Elliott.
“The focus should already be at an all-time high, There shouldn’t be a next level that we can get focused. We’re 6-7.We’re definitely not comfortable there, and what [the Rams] do really doesn’t change anything in this locker room.”, he added.
